New Wave Laundromat, a 3,500-square-foot, card-operated laundry in Sterling Heights, Mich., was built as a showplace for those interested in getting into the vended laundry business. The laundry also brings the ultimate in convenience and amenities to customers. Storeowner Mike “Stucky” Szczotka installed energy-efficient Continental commercial washers that miser water, gas and electricity. “There are no top-load washers in this store,” says Stucky. Instead, he opted for 10 20-pound capacity front-load Continental Washer-Extractors. “We’re looking at a 30 percent utility savings because we installed the Continental front-load commercial washers instead of top-load machines,” he says.
